Seems to me that the scratched numbers on PPks may have stopped sometime between K under PPK, 2086xx and K suffix PPK, 280067k.Īccording to John Pearson when Walther started making production changes after 1941, the scratched numbering inside the slide was eliminated. He states that type four ( K under ) was the first to have the full factory applied seriel number to both the frame and slide. I am assuming that once the factory exterior slide numbering started, the interior scratched number was no longer a necessary part of the production process and therefore ceased at some point but probably not right away.įrom what I have read in Stepan's book the numbers on the exterior of the slides of type one, two and three SS guns were applied after the guns left the factory.
